Castor Oil

Castor oil is extracted from the Castor Bean Plant. It is a thick, viscous liquid with a slight distinctive smell. Castor oil contributes to thick, large bubbles in cold process soap and is used in most shampoo bar recipes.

It has skin repair and moisturizing effects. Do not use more than 20% of the total oil weight as the soap is easy to soften and rotten and too high a ratio will increase the saponification speed and make it too late to enter the mould.
